I live in las vegas. I Recently picked up a Dainese jacket ment for airflow. The jacket is amazing how well it flows air. I somehow feel cooler in the jacket then just a tee shirt. I believe he was referring to impact protection. how they do so little to help from a impact there Useless. But i agree with you. That they still are helpful in other ways.

I saw someone almost have their arm ripped off because they crashed into a guardrail last week. Was just wearing a wind breaker. Anything more than that wouldn’t been so much better. I put the elbow pads back into my riding jacket after seeing that. No idea what Ryan was smoking.

I ride and work insurance claims for motorcycles. The difference between people wearing full gear and not is massively mind blowing. I’m on the front lines and see it everyday

The main points in Ryan's video were that the generic armor/pads that you just get in most regular riding garments just aren't up to the standards that they should be. If you buy proper purpose built armors like some that Ryan and Jake both showed off you can get much higher levels of protection in some cases without having to compromise on things like comfort and ergonomics. You should absolutely buy purposeful gear that fits your needs. In a slide, more material will outdo no material every day of the week and Ryan aknowledges that. But he makes the point that with impacts, most pads will barley prevent something like breaking a bone on impact, which is really what they're there for so he no longer opts to wear them, he'd rather improve his comfort and is all the happier for it. Ryan also mentions problem where these gear manufacturer have little motivation to improve their pads, and basically only include them because they are required too, so they only meet the bare minimums of saftey and the rider buying the XXL and the rider getting XS are getting the same sized armors to save on costs. Even though I understand that, i dont personally plan on removing the pads out of my gear anytime soon but it has really made me revaluate the quality of my current riding gear. I think I'm due for a upgrade in my almost 7 year old gear.

It's hot here too but I find that a compression suit gives me the same feeling of false confidence to hoon it up usually. If not a set of MX armor over does the trick.

Yeah that video was weird. What kind of movements Ryan wanted to do in a moto gear anyway? I'd rather have something between me and pavement than nothing. Even paper sheets as insert pieces would add up to safety. And good motogear is so comfortable. I've had a proper full leather Dainese jacket with beefy elbows, shoulders and back comfy af, and I felt like a fcking Robocop.

Eh. I love watching Ryan F9. I watched the armor vid, and left my armor in afterwards.

I personally commute on my bike every day for work so I wear my work clothes. If I go out to ride I’ll wear my riding clothes I also ride differently I’m not pulling wheelies in my work clothes. At the same time too I never try and push my bike to the limit because there’s too much of a chance to hit some gravel or grass on the road around me.

I'm just here to give you props for doing this review in full gear in this heat.

In the video he is mostly shitting on the meaningless standard that they are held to. So the cheap pads that come in a jacket or whatever may not be effective. No one is saying hard armor doesn't work.

I’ve never cared for that F9 guy, and after his video about the armor being useless I’m done with him. He and Yammieboobs content are both out for me.

I wear gear I spent way too much money on just for adv, dual sport, yes it limits my movement, yes it's hot even though it got a lot airflow tech, but I would never dare to ride without it.

We get free healthcare here, I still wear leather with armour every time.

That video he made was complete BS from the start. I've crashed on my dual sport and the armor helped on the impact. Only had a few bruises but I always wear armor no matter if it's on the dirt or street
